McKENZIE (November 1) — A small group of alumni from McKenzie High School are developing an alumni association for those who attended McKenzie High School. The third such meeting was held November 1 at the McKenzie High School Library.

PARIS (November 5) — The Marching War Eagles of West Carroll High School traveled to Henry County High School this past weekend to compete in the Division I Tenn. State Marching Band Championships. Even with the rain and wind the band went into their preliminary performance with the best show to date, according to the news release.

PARIS — Henry County Medical Center (HCMC) welcomed eight new third-year medical students from Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine to campus on Friday, July 15. Following the onboarding process, the students began to assist healthcare providers in the hospital and within clinics in the surrounding area.

McKENZIE — Bethel University is hosting the annual Miss Bethel University Volunteer and the Miss Carroll County Volunteer pageant on November 19, at 6 p.m. in the Dickey Fine Arts Building on Bethel’s campus. This combined pageant acts as a preliminary for the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Scholarship pageant held each July in Jackson. Deadline for application is Tuesday, November 15.

NASHVILLE — For the second year in a row, a McKenzie Rebel has been nominated for Class A’s Mr. Football Award. Last year, it was junior running back Marquez Taylor and this year it is senior quarterback Jackson Cassidy.

McKENZIE (November 2022) — The Polar Bar! Ask anyone who resided in McKenzie in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, and you will hear a favorite memory of the burger and ice cream shop. It was the hangout for high school students in the late 1950s and 60s before the chain restaurants and fast food restaurants. It was the place to get a whopper burger, fries, and ice cream and shakes.

The McKenzie Garden Club met on Friday, October 28, at the Lakeside Senior Living Community and hosted by members Donna Herrin and Donna Hodge. Donna Hodge gave the devotional on the importance of speaking gently instead of in anger. Thirteen members answered the roll call and member, Mona Batchelor, introduced her guest, Karen Forester. Karen was the daughter-in-law of a former member, Willie Mae Forester, and is an avid gardener who recently moved to McKenzie with her husband, Mark.

McKenzie (November 4) — McKenzie Rebels defeated Wayne County 63-0 in the first round of the Class 1A football playoffs at Rebel Stadium on November 4. Next up is Moore County (9-1), Region 5 at Rebel Stadium on Friday, November 11, Veterans Day, 7 p.m.

HUNTINGDON — The Huntingdon Mustangs wasted no time establishing they belonged in the playoffs scoring four touchdowns in the opening frame and added three more in the second quarter racking up 50 first half points against Memphis Mitchell and won the contest 50-12.

McKENZIE — The No. 4 Bethel Wildcats scored 28 points in the first quarter and coasted to a 59-6 victory over the visiting Faulkner Eagles Saturday afternoon. It was Senior Day for 19 Wildcats who were honored in pregame ceremonies. It was also Military/First Responders Appreciation Day. With the win, Bethel clinched the Mid-South Conference title.

McKenzie Middle School basketball tipped off November hosting West Carroll Junior High on Tuesday, November 1. The Lady War Eagles drained a three-pointer to take an early lead and maintained a slim 1-2 point lead throughout the first period until McKenzie hit a basket taking an 11-10 lead just seconds before the end of the first period.

Multiple Charges — McKenzie Police Sgt. Cody Coleman initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Ranger for a display of plates violation early Sunday morning, November 6 on Hwy 22. Bryer Caswell, 27, of Lexington, was driving on a suspended license for failure to appear in Henry County Court. The vehicle tag was from another vehicle and the original plate was expired in 2016. Caswell was cited for Driving on Suspended – 1st Offense, Expired Registration, Financial Responsibility Violation, and Unlawful Removal of Plates.
