McKENZIE (November 27) — It was final tests week at Bethel University for the Fall 2023 seminar. A night of fun honored the students with a late-evening pancake, sausage, and dessert meal. Bethel President Walter Butler along with faculty and staff members prepared and served the students.

Stephen Brown, a lifelong McKenzie native and CSX engineer, had the recent honor of working the CSX Santa Train, which runs through parts of Kentucky, Virgina, and Tennessee along the Appalachian Trail. In its 81st year, the Santa Train carried approximately 13 tons of supplies to those along the 110-mile route, consisting of toys, food, wrapping paper, and stuffed backpacks. The train embarked on its 10-hour journey beginning in Pikeville, Kentucky and ending in Kingsport, Tenn.

Doyle Randolph Bunn, 1923-1986, was in the 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, captured during the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a POW from December 1944 until April 1945.
