Douglas Bennett

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. - Mr. Douglas Bennett, 99, died Friday, December 22, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services are 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 in the chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home, Huntingdon. Interment will follow in Palmer Shelter Cemetery. Reverend James Ellington and Brother Steve Whitworth officiating.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Bennett was born January 21, 1924 to the late Hattie Davis and Herbert E. Bennett. Preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Bennett who died in 1987, his second wife, Ailene Bennett, who died in 2017; three brothers, Paul Bennett, Wayne Bennett and Yates Bennett; two step-sons, Yates Bennett Jr. and Charles Bennett. He was a Palmer Shelter United Methodist Church member and a WWII Army veteran.

He is survived by his children, Kathy (Pat) Holmes of Iowa, Lonnie Bennett of Hollow Rock, and Ronald (Brenda) of Hollow Rock; one sister, Virginia Smith of Huntingdon; his step-children, Ann (Dennis) Coleman of McKenzie, Carl (Marsha) Bennett of Arizona, Scott (Pam) Bennett of Huntingdon, Clint (Stacey) Bennett of Alabama and Susan Bennett of McKenzie; four grandchildren, Teressa (Andrew) Smith of Hollow Rock, Bethany (Johney) Coleman of Hollow Rock, Jenny Homes of Iowa and Doug Holmes of Iowa; eight great-grandchildren Kassidy Pace, Tyler Pace, Justin Haskins, Caleb Haskins, Peyton Ellis, Paige Coleman, Paris Coleman, and Logan Smith; and four great-great-grandchildren Clara, Claudia, Lana, and Charlie; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
