McKENZIE — On July 10, 2022, the Weakley County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Bells Store Rd. and Patterson Road area just outside of McKenzie, Tenn. There had been a report of a person lying on the road. When they arrived, they found Terry Beard, 49, of Milan, Tenn., lying on the side of the road. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was deceased. more

Teachers’ cars are in the parking lots. The sounds of the band practicing have returned to Holly Hills, the neighboring subdivision. The soccer girls are practicing when I drive by headed to breakfast. Middle and high school football players are on the practice fields. All of our schools have fresh wax on the halls. These indicate that the class of 2023 are about to begin their senior year. Students will attend the traditional half-day August 2nd and begin a full day schedule August 3. I want to welcome all of our new and returning students for what is going to be an exciting year. more

HUNTINGDON (July 7) — McKenzie City Attorney Laura Keeton filed a complaint with the Carroll County Election Commission concerning the candidacy of Joshua Wheat Filtz for mayor of the city. The complaint was officially filed on July 7 on behalf of the citizens of McKenzie. more

Just a few short years ago, Sadarius Hutcherson was playing high school football and basketball for the Huntingdon Mustangs. He played on the interior line as well as tight end and defensive end. By his senior year, he was considered a 3-star defensive end prospect by 247 Sports and was being noticed by several schools. Sadarius eventually signed with South Carolina in February 2016 where he saw action for three and a half seasons. more
