Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has added McKenzie native Max Arnold Jr. to its football coaching staff. Arnold will serve as the special teams quality control coach for the Blue Raiders.

HUNTINGDON (January 30) — On Tuesday the McKenzie Lady Rebels and Rebels traveled to Huntingdon to take on the Fillies and Mustangs in a non-region matchup. The Lady Rebels extended their season record to 11-5 with a decisive 77-62 victory against the Fillies. The Rebels followed this victory with their own 73-64 win on the court over the Mustangs, bringing their season record to 12-6.

McKENZIE (January 23) — McKenzie High School senior Mikaela Reynolds chose to continue her education at Bethel University and is the newest signee for the Lady Wildcats Basketball Team. During a signing event at MHS on Tuesday, a school snow day, family, friends and Lady Rebels teammates join in the celebration.

Members of the McKenzie High School Homecoming Royalty were selected by nominations from each homeroom. The M-Club then selected the five beautiful young ladies being presented Friday. The basketball teams and cheerleaders chose the queen from these five young ladies.

NASHVILLE (January 12) — On Friday, the Tennessee Sports Wide Writers Association announced their selections for the All-State Football Teams of 2023. The list contains several players from around west Tennessee including McKenzie’s Colt Norden and Huntingdon’s Gray Eubanks. Both are juniors and are expected to have excellent 2024 seasons.

McKENZIE (January 8) — After a tough loss to McEwen on Friday, January 5, the Lady Rebels found themselves battling a talented Henry County Lady Patriots team on Monday, January 8 at McKenzie. An overtime effort earned the Lady Rebels a 59-57 victory on the Lady Pats.

The Tennessee Sportswriters Associated listed its list of All-State players on January 4. Four players from McKenzie and one from Huntingdon were honored.

McKENZIE (December 19) — Fans at the McKenzie-Milan prep basketball game on Tuesday, December 19 at the McKenzie High School Gymnasium, witnessed history when Savannah Davis, a McKenzie senior and Middle Tennessee State University signee, set a new state scoring record for the number of 3-point goals in a single game while she also matched the MHS high-scoring record for a single game.

McKENZIE (December 19) — McKenzie High School football standout Marquez Taylor is transferring from Austin Peay to the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). As part of the coaching carousel, Austin Peay’s Head Coach Scotty Walden, a native Texan, was offered the top spot at UTEP. Taylor announced Tuesday he was leaving the Governors to join Walden and the Miners team.

McKENZIE (December 19) — On Tuesday, both the girls’ and the boys’ basketball had solid wins against the Milan Bulldogs. The Lady Rebels whooped up on their opponent 86-33, a game in which Savannah Davis knocked down 17 three-pointers (a state record) and accumulated 60 points for the game. Davis tied the Lady Rebel individual single-game record, equaling Anna Comer’s 60 points against Hollow-Rock Bruceton in 2016.
