Rebels Advance with Win Over Tigers

HUNTINGDON (May 7) — The McKenzie High School Rebels advanced to the semifinals of the District 11A Baseball Tournament with a 5-1 win Friday over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers. The tournament is hosted by Huntingdon High School.
The Rebels scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the first, and the Tigers plated their lone run in the top of the seventh.
Rebel Eli Surber went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Zayden McCaslin was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Hayden Hixon went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Ethan Travis was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Tiger Austin Craig went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Preston Hollingsworth was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Brennen Hollingsworth went 1-for-3 with a walk. Thomas Crews and James Noe were each 1-for-3.
Hayden Hixon earned the win for McKenzie, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out four and walking four in five and two-thirds innings. Brandon Boaz threw the final inning and a third, allowing one earned run on two hits with no walks.
Reece Patterson took the loss for Central, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. Tate Crews pitched the final five and a third innings, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out one and walking one.
