Pictorial History of McKenzie: Stokes Farm

Posted

Ernest and Vadie Stokes worked on a farm in Dyersburg for 50 cents a day, saving for a place of their own. They bought the old Hearn farm bout 7½ miles outside McKenzie in the early 1950s. They lived on the farm until Mr. Stokes died in 1986. The house (shown here) was destroyed by a wind storm in the 1990s. The Stokes had three children: Beulah Mingle, Louis Stokes and Betty Reeves.
