Mustangs Claim Title with 6-3 Win Over Rebels

HUNTINGDON (May 12) — The Huntingdon Mustangs claimed the District 11A Baseball Championship with a 6-3 win Wednesday over the McKenzie Rebels.
The Rebels struck first with a run in the top of the second, but the Mustangs answered with three in the home half and added a pair in the third. Huntingdon plated another run in the fifth, and McKenzie added a pair in the sixth.
Mustang Grant Bartholomew went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Javon Pritchard was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Blane Fields went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Blake Reeves was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Colton Bush went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Hunter Britt was 1-for-4. Sam Parish went 0-for-2 with a run scored.

Rebel Jake Cassidy went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Collin McLearen was 2-for-3 with a walk. Zayden McCaslin went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Hayden Hixson was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Phillip Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Brandon Boaz was 1-for-4 with a stolen base. Jake McDaniel went 1-for-4. Eli Surber was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Sam Parish earned the complete-game victory for Huntingdon, allowing three earned runs on ten hits while striking out two and walking one.
Hayden Hixson took the complete-game loss for McKenzie, allowing six runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out seven and walking two.
