Lady Rebels Outslug Lady Tigers in Opener

HUNTINGDON (May 8) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels opened the District 11A Softball Tournament with a 7-2 win over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers.
McKenzie struck first with a run in the bottom of the first frame and added two more in the third. Central got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Rebels pulled away with four in the sixth.
Lady Rebel Katie Chesser went 2-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored. Savannah Davis was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Anna Robinson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Jaden Barton was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Kassidy Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Nicole Gibson was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Briley Auvenshine went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Payton Ognibene was 1-for-3.

Lady Tiger Nevaeh Davis went 3-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases. Addison Hampton was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Olivia Newberry went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. Mykenzie Burton was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Briley Auvenshine earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out eight and walking three.
Carlee Hicks took the complete-game loss for Central, allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits while striking out five and walking one.
