Huntingdon Sweeps McKenzie in Home-Away Series

McKENZIE/HUNTINGDON (April 12-13) — McKenzie and Huntingdon played a pair of high school district baseball contests in a home-away series last week. The Mustangs came out on top both days, topping the Rebels on the road 13-3 on Monday and edging out an 8-7 walk-off win at home Tuesday.
On Monday, Huntingdon set the tone with six runs in the top of the first. McKenzie cut the deficit in half with three in the bottom of the second. The score held until the Mustangs plated seven in the top of the seventh.
Mustang Grant Bartholomew went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Javon Pritchard was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Luke Furr went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Blake Reeves was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Colton Bush went 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Cade Wood was 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Hunter Britt went 1-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Sam Parrish was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Blaine Fields went 0-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Rebel Jackson Cassidy went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brandon Boaz was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Jake McDaniel went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Eli Surber was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Zayden McCaslin was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Grant Bartholomew earned the win for Huntingdon, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out five and walking three in five innings. Javon Pritchard threw the final two innings, allowing no runs, hits or walks.

Jackson Cassidy took the loss for McKenzie, allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits while striking out one and walking one in a third of an inning. Ty Anderson threw the final six and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs (one earned) on eleven hits while striking out four and walking none.
Tuesday, McKenzie struck first with four runs in the top of the first, but the Mustangs answered in kind in the home half to tie it. The Rebels regained the lead with three in the top of the second, and Huntingdon scored one in the bottom. After three scoreless frames, the Mustangs tied it again with a pair in the sixth, then scored the go-ahead run in the seventh for the walk-off win.

Jackson Cassidy was 1-for-4.

Blake Reeves threw three and a third innings of relief, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out three and walking none. Javon Pritchard pitched the final two and two-thirds innings and earned the win, allowing no runs or hits while striking out four and walking one.
Jake McDaniel started for McKenzie, allowing seven runs (six earned) on ten hits while striking out five and walking two in five and a third innings. Zayden McCaslin threw the final inning and a third and took the loss, allowing one earned run on one hit while striking out one and walking three.
