McKENZIE (June 11) — A new division of Haven Steel Products, Inc., the leading supplier of spring steel components, opened in McKenzie on 25570 Highway 22 N.

In September 2019, Ken Brown, president of Haven Steel Products, met with Mark Speciale, the previous owner of Cutting Specialists, Inc. (CSI) to discuss buying the CSI building and company and converting it into Haven Steel. The building is 101,680 square feet and was built in 1989.

Haven Steel Products, Inc. and Cutting Specialists, Inc. were competitors in the spring steel components industry.

Haven Steel Products, Inc. began its operations in Haven, Kansas, in 1968 and has been a privately-owned business company producing spring steel components since 1969. The McKenzie plant will be Haven Steel’s second location after the original in Haven, Kansas.

Haven Steel imports 1500 tons of All-American steel from Nebraska and Iowa per month to create agricultural tillage components, cutter blades, flail blades and other miscellaneous parts. To see a full list of products, you can visit their website, www.havensteel.com.

Haven Steel exports its products to original equipment manufacturers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, England and South America.

Safety and quality are important to the staff at Haven Steel Products, Inc. Their goal is to create a safe working environment that promises high quality products. If anything is found unsafe, managing staff plans to shut the facility down.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony, McKenzie Mayor Jill Holland, McKenzie’s Chamber of Commerce Director Monica Heath, and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce President Brad Hurley gave their well-wishes and offered their help at any time.

President Ken Brown sees a great future for the new McKenzie facility and is very excited to expand the company. He is ready to expand employment opportunities and is prepared to hire 20 more employees today.
