Mr. Charles David Bennett died at his home in Peoria, Arizona on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 surrounded by family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Milan, Tennessee on May 10, 1951, to the late Vickers Yates Bennett and the late Susan Aliene Bennett.  He was the middle of seven children.

He attended Huntingdon High School where he played football on the 1968 Mustang team that went undefeated during the regular season and won the conference championship.  He graduated from HHS in 1969 and continued his education at UT Martin and Middle Tennessee State University, obtaining a BS in Accounting in 1973.  After graduation Charles began a career in grain accounting with Cook Industries in Memphis before transferring to Cook’s office in Portland, Oregon.

Charles met his wife, Kathleen, after his move to Portland.  They were married in Portland where they welcomed their daughter, Sarah.  Charles continued his career in grain accounting and system design in Omaha, Nebraska and the family welcomed son, David.

Charles transitioned to sales and marketing of computer systems and services to customers both domestic and international.  His career included assignments in Portland, Great Falls, Kansas City, Omaha, and San Francisco.  Charles and his family lived in San Francisco from 1986 until 2002, when they relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.   Charles subsequently established BLT Services to provide accounting and consulting services to Native American housing authorities in the western United States.

Charles loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren.  He loved to be outside in the Arizona sunshine.  Charles was a master griller/smoker on his Green Egg and a skilled sushi chef and loved entertaining and sharing with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen (Morrissey); daughter, Sarah Bennett Chavez (Sjon) of Peoria, AZ; son, David Elisha Bennett (Amanda Koulousias) of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Luke Ryan Bennett and Ally Blaire Bennett of Silver Spring, MD and William (Liam) David Chavez and Maeve Rosemarie Chavez of Peoria, AZ;  sisters: Ann (Dennis) Coleman and Susan Bennett; brothers: Carl (Marsha) Bennett, Scott (Pam) Bennett, Clint (Stacey) Bennett, Preceded in death, Vickers Yates Bennett Jr.
