McKenzie’s Bennett Signs with Jackson State Softball

McKENZIE (April 19) — McKenzie High School senior Lilly Bennett signed Monday to join the Jackson State Community College Greenjays softball team, joined in the MHS Theatre by family, coaches, teammates and classmates.
Attending the ceremony were Jackson State Head Coach Taylor Schubert and Assistant Coach Beth Barcroft. Barcroft is an MHS alum.
Coach Schubert told The Banner she wanted Bennett on her roster because she’s athletic and the team needs middle infielders. “She can hit, and she’s very versatile.”

Bennett, a Lady Rebel basketball standout, told The Banner she chose softball because she hadn’t played in several years and wanted to get back into it. She chose Jackson State so she could remain close to home.
She said she’s very proud to represent McKenzie High School and she’s appreciative of the opportunities that sports has offered her.
Off the field, Bennett will study to become a physical therapy assistant.
